WHO IS "THUMPY?"

This post started out with a simple PM to MR. Al Covey "I realized that I have known you for a couple of years but know hardly anything about you. I was wondering if you would like to write a post for the Blog...."   Thumpy being the seasoned pro he is, quickly provided all the information below! BUT....in the process of getting this post ready, I did have one burning question that remained.... "How did you get the name "Thumpy?""  to which he replied:
"Three reasons, I love grenade launchers and 4 stroke motorcycles, aka, thumpers...and ThumpMaster came from a gaming nickname from an old hover tanks free play game on line called Wolfram...and the original Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 shooters. Kinda stuck with it now!"

We hope you all enjoy this little glimpse into ..... Who is Thumpy?

WHO IS "THUMPY?"

"Thumpy" is a screen nickname for ThumpMaster6, a well-known member of the US and World airsoft community; through his many writings, ramblings and musings on various airsoft forums, in his reporting and photography in 4 major airsoft publications (TAKE AIM Airsoft Magazine, Airsoft International, & Recon-Rag and USASOC Airsoft Magazines on the web), and this coming February will mark our 6th year in a whole list of online offerings and social channels as well.  He brings a 30+ year background in print, radio, broadcast and cable TV and video to this enterprise, with emphasis in real-world military reporting, as well as a deep respect for the men and women who protect our freedoms around the world.

Me and my Big Mouth!

Thumpy's quest for the best-in-airsoft, and AIRSOFT INNOVATION, began with a forum thread on Arnie's Airsoft in the winter of 2009.  This was supposed to be "the dawn of a new age" in airsoft, as  "blowback" came to AEG's, and was  soon-to-be-followed by the first new generation of "blowback" gas rifles.

Blowback could have been a great idea, if it added to the experience of making an airsoft gun more realistic in its basic touch-and-feel...but it seemed to Thumpy and lots of other players to be just another gimmick to sell guns that were far less capable than they could be.  And, far less in their potential for realism, rugged reliability and added accuracy that players around the world have been begging for from manufacturers and retailers for years.

Thus begot the thread:

" MANUFACTURERS: We do NOT want blow back!, Give us a break and make strong accurate weps! DARE YOU!"

The Winter of our Discontent

Thumpy's gauntlet toss at the airsoft industry was simple: "I can't think of anything LESS useful than the current crop of gas or electric guns with fakey blow-back bolt operation. The blowback is not strong enough to truly simulate recoil of a real-steel gun, unless your girly arms can't hold one still...and its just one more thing to break that adds nothing to the actual skirmishability of a gun."

And, he followed with four simple suggestions.

"Make them
A) Solid, like a real gun
B) Accurate at a reasonable range
C) Innovative in a new design of mechanism to propel and guide the rounds/bb's
and
D) Affordability, which will come with common-sense engineering."

The thread, posted on Arnie's on February 7th, 2009, touched a nerve with airsofters like few others.   Thumpy and other Arnie's 'regulars' linked to a prior thread, asking why airsoft gun owners were spending ever-growing sums of money for guns that were, frankly, no where near as durable or mechanically reliable as they could be.  Some airsofters suggested that they were actually spending MORE on their airsoft guns that  comparable real-steel rifles, carbines and pistols, yet they seems to be mired in technology from the 60's and 70's, that more-times-than-not broke just hours out-of-the-box.

In just days, the "Innovation" thread became a sounding board for what people liked...and did NOT like... in the current crop of weapons for sale in the airsoft market.  And, by March, 2009, the thread totaled 460 posts...one of the most-read and responded-to threads of the year.  And, who responded?  Not just players with gripes or complaints, but some of the innovative thinkers who got "outside the box," discussing alternative power sources, replacements and enhancements for mechboxes, new engineering and manufacturing ideas for improving reliability, durability, ease of maintenance, and accuracy...yet keeping safety at the center of any proposed innovations.

"The ideas behind the thread was to generate interest with manufacturers," Thumpy said," and, lo-and-behold, some responded."  One of the first was KWA-USA, which was already well on the way to establishing itself as a new force in airsoft.  Long-known for their well-manufactured Gas Blow Back (GBB) pistols, they had just announced the KG36C Commando, and a new line of M4 & M16 variants, with rugged gearboxes, and "LiPo-ready" wiring in a stock gun.   In the several months that followed, KWA USA announced more INNOVATIVE products, including GBB Sub Machine Guns (SMG's), the most highly anticipated being a GBB MP-7, now on the scene.

Others stepped up to opine about the lack of durability, what they would like to see for realism, extended range and accuracy, and overall improvements.

You be the judge.  Innovation in airsoft is our quest, and with even more manufacturers, importers, retailers and engineers and gun-plumbers working hard behind-the-scenes, we want to take you inside the newest, hottest, next-generation airsoft and MilSim gear, guns, guys and gals, and great sites....Here in America, and around The Globe.

Shot Show 2015 After Action Report by Adella Relentless

Shot Show 2015 After Action Report

You would think that after attending an event over and over and over again it would become pretty repetitive. I have been attending SHOT Show for about 4+ years now and truth be told it is never a boring time! Despite it being a 4 to 5 day venture (depending on which side of the show floor you are on) it sometimes feels like there is never enough time to get everything done! Despite me attending multiple years in a row I can easily say I still don't think I have hit every single booth on the SHOT Show floor! This year spun itself a little different for me seeing as one of my major sponsors (Valken Tactical) for the first time ever had their own booth! My time spent here was not only covering videos for my event sponsor, AirSplat as well as my own Adella Relentless Brand but I also found myself assisting in what little ways I could to my ever so loving Valken Sponsors. Being split 3 ways can honestly make your time at SHOT Show feel even shorter! Not gonna lie though, it is easily worth the effort!

This year for SHOT Show not only did I spend it covering most of the airsoft goodies that our favorite manufactures and vendors were showcasing but I built a few real gun industry connections as well! I did my best to spend sometime finding some of the real gun industry goodies that can easily carry over into airsoft and truth be told I was not disappointed! You guys can check out some of those goodies as I slowly release them!

As for anything that took place after SHOT Show hours it seems like the fun never really ended. Dealing with Industry dinners and After Parties the days seem to just run right into each other. As much fun as SHOT Show may seem to the people that get to look at the media just like anything else we do as advocators our job is to make it look fun, exciting and interesting but truth be told it is A LOT of work. When it comes to networking late and waking up early to make sure you gather all your content it turns out to be more work than most people expect. Don't get me wrong it's always a wonderful privilege to experience shot show every year but if you ever get the opportunity to prepare yourself for late nights, early mornings, very little sleep followed by a lot of catch up once you return.

Over all this years SHOT Show for me was a major success and I am so excited to bring some new and exciting pieces of equipment to all of you for 2015! Keep an eye out on both the Warrior Blog and my all new AdellaRelentless.com website as I release some future product for you guys!

Who is P90 Girl?

I had come to hear about this young lady through a mutual friend, Adella Escandar (Adella Relentless) a little over a year ago.  Since I first became friends with her, I was intrigued by her choice of the P90, but she has taken a little different road than the rest of it and SHE ROCKS IT!!! I've also enjoyed as I'm sure many of you have her resent appearances on Slaydies night and just the other night on BBRMilSims  YouTube channel. We are truly humbled and honored to have Aleeia provide this post below that give a great insight of who she is and how she fits into the world of airsoft...

Who is P90 Girl? I have five P90s of different builds and brands to satisfy my airsofting obsession. They've been the only airsoft guns I've owned for the last four years, and I've only been hitting the airsoft fields for a little more then that. So why the P90? And Why should you know who I am? My brothers starting playing airsoft as ‘Walmart Warriors’ with an ex-boyfriend of mine a couple months before I joined them, but when my family does something, they go all out. A couple weeks after their Walmart purchases, my dad started to sling plastic as well and the boys in my family were decked out in way to much gear and way to fancy guns that left my mother in awe at the cost of this sport. At my first game at the local outdoor field, I had borrowed my brother’s first gun, a G&G M4. My first experiences with airsoft were terrible.
It was hot outside, I kept getting the famous Georgia burrs stuck in my hair and clothes, I couldn't figure out how to take the gun off safety, and no matter which way I put the mag in,
it was always wrong. But I still came back next weekend, not willing to admit defeat. That’s when my dad, the now famous Tech, Marvin, told me to use my brother’s P90 which he had left for dead for his new XCR. This mag was easy to put in, and the safety was easy to turn off too. It wasn't very heavy and I finally got my first kill. That’s when the love was born, and a couple months after, I had claimed the gun and was starting to be referred to as the girl with the P90. Once I got that first kill, Airsoft had opened up its doors to me. After that, my family jumped head first into the airsofting world. My dad began using his skills and started to work on and build airsoft guns. My brothers started a sponsored traveling team called Mad Crew Airsoft, that went around the south east states. I had found my spirit gun, and ended up with a collection of P90s that fit every need, thanks to my dad. I had fallen in love with the feel of them. I've used lots of other airsoft guns since then, and I have other favorites, but the P90 is the only one that speaks to my soul. I feel like I play better with it, and that’s how I ended up with a P90 DMR build, A DSG P90 complete with a drum mag and a Fat Mag, A back stock P90, A King Arms P90 for the trademarks, and of course, Waffles, the famous CQB P90 that started the obsession back in
2011. Would I really try another replica gun? Maybe. But for me to spend money on another gun, it’d have to be one heck of a gun. But why should you know who I am? I’ve played airsoft almost every weekend since 2011. I’ve played at every strictly airsoft field in central Georgia enough to know the regulars and store owners. I get enough practice so I know I can’t be that bad at airsoft. Airsoft led me to meet all different types of people and airsofters, and even lead me to some of my closes friends. With all of this, I knew enough about airsoft in the Georgia platform and I knew a lot of airsofters. I could make a difference in the way airsoft was in Georiga. That was my goal, Airsoft had become my life. It gave me that sense of adrenaline as well as acceptance. I wanted to introduce airsoft to everyone, especially women. The field can be a pretty intimidating place for a girl. But playing with guns, winning objectives, getting kills is a great way to learn confidence which is something that everyone, especially women, in today’s harsh world should have. I wanted to be an inspiration to show women and girls that they have the strength and dignity to learn, grow, strive, and live life to their fullest potential despite what anyone else says. I was a very socially awkward and quiet high school-er, it wasn't till airsoft that I broke down walls. I started an all-female airsoft team called Black Sunset to break down the intimidation factor and help girls get started in the sport, as well as break down stereotypical standards. I want to be an advocate to encourage girls to get into the sport and change the game as well as help break down insecurities. Women like Adella Relentless and Sisu from American Milsim pretty much sweat confidence and really express what it means to be a female airsofter. I want to be like them!
I recently was able to go to California to play airsoft, thanks to a supportive boyfriend, and I got to live the dream and appear YouTube channels that I could only fathom about being on last year. I get tons of messages of people asking for my advice on P90s, Guns, fields, and all of this stuff. My opinion only matters because of airsofters like you guys. If it wasn't for airsoft, I wouldn't have a voice, and if wasn't for the airsofters who cared what I had to say
my voice wouldn't matter. I still plan to change the way Georgia Airsoft is, and grow the community. I’ve gotten further then I ever imagined I would with airsoft. So why should you know who I am? That’s something you’ll have to answer for yourself. But at least now you know who I am. I’m P90 Girl. I’m 22 years old this weekend. I’m a certified EMT. I have five P90s. Video Game High School is my favorite show. My Gerbils names are Trigger and Trishot. My car is bright blue. I play everything with an airsoft gun, indoor outdoor, CQB, MilSim, you name it. I always want to know where airsoft is headed and whatever the next greatest thing is. And I want to know who you are. I also want you to read the Warrior Blog a lot because without Padre' I wouldn't have been able to tell you this story.
